Mr. Horenstein has a very unique view of the animal kingdom, often characterized by shooting very close to the subject. At times, his photographs are even difficult to identify. His fresh viewpoint is actually quite delightful, visually bringing out a fun sense of humor.
He is currently a professor of photography at the Rhode Island School of Design, and he has been a teacher for the last 28 years, beginning at Harvard in 1974. He has authored several textbooks and seven art monographs. His photographs can be found in the collections of a number of major museums, including The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston and High Museum of Art, Atlanta. He has had numerous shows in photographic art galleries around the country.
