Ayn Rand (1905-1982) A Russian born novelist
and philosopher, Rand came to America in 1926.
She was famous for the best-selling novels,
The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged as well
as for developing her philosophy known as
“Objectivism.”
Rand detested communist Russia and loved America, especially life in New York City. She relished hosting weekly Manhattan soirées to discuss capitalism, philosophy, sex, music, politics and human capability. Among her devoted acolytes was the young Alan Greenspan. “My philosophy, in essence, is the concept of Man as a heroic being, with his own happiness as the moral purpose of his life, with productive achievement as his noblest activity.” Ayn Rand |
