La Llorana (Centuries Ago to Present Day) “La Llorana, the Weeping Woman,” is a popular Mexican legend handed down through generations. It is a story of a beautiful woman who, to avenge her husband’s infidelity, drowns their children. It is often said that she roams the night weeping for the loss of her children. Children in Mexico are warned to behave and not to go out alone after dark for La Llorana will snatch them up – never to be returned to their parents. “My Story might incite a brand of pity in the heart of the gullible. It is why I am only able to afflict the easily impressed. My husband drove me to the most unwholesome act. It wasn’t my fault. I gambled. I lost. Do not invoke my spirit again. I am Fear. You have been warned!” (La Llorana)
