William Abranowicz' images deliver a quietly nuanced
vision of the Greek Islands. His photographs encompass more than a 10
year period and have been published in a monograph by Rizzoli called The Greek File: Images from a Mythic Land.
Mr. Abranowicz (born 1956) lives in Bedford, New York, and his photography has been featured in many publications of note, including the Conde Nast Traveler, Martha Stewart Living and The New York Times Magazine. His work is in a number of prestigious collections, and he has had several one-person shows at major galleries, including the Witkin Gallery and the Bonni Benrubi Gallery, both of which are located in New York City.
In earlier years, he assisted George Tice and Horst P. Horst. He has taught photography at Parsons School of Design and The New School for Social Research and is the recipient of a grant from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts for photography. Afterimage Gallery is pleased to note that we have carried his work since the early 1980s.
