The Afterimage Gallery is an art gallery devoted exclusively to photography. It was established in the fall of 1971, making it one of the oldest such galleries in the world. Over the years, the gallery has held one-person shows for many of the greatest fine-art photographers of our age, along with many unknown and regional photographers.
Although most of the sales from The Afterimage Gallery are to private collectors, several notable museums also make significant purchases. In addition, the gallery sells to both large and small corporations (a corporate brochure is available). These corporate, institutional and private buyers realize that some of the most interesting art being created today is through the medium of photography and that it's also the best value in today's art market.
If a collector desires a certain image that is not in the current inventory, it can often be located by the gallery's owner through his many contacts in the field. For prints by lesser known artists, photographs can be viewed on the web site or slides of work can be sent.
Along with original prints, the gallery also handles a number of fine in-print photography books. In-house archival framing and matting services are available at reasonable rates. Appraisals for insurance and tax purposes are also offered.
The owner/director is Ben Breard, who is a native of Dallas. He became seriously interested in photography while majoring in journalism at Northwestern University. He went on to receive a master's degree in communications photography from Syracuse University and soon thereafter opened the gallery.
The gallery is located in The Quadrangle, an exclusive complex just north of downtown Dallas. Hours are 10:00 to 5:30 Monday through Saturday. We are pleased to serve you and to answer any questions we can regarding the fascinating art of photography.
